The Waldron family immigrated to New York in the 1650s when it was called New Amsterdam and played an important role in the founding of that city. On Sept 25, 1863. Moses Waldron enlisted in to Co. "G", 4th GA. Calvary. He was hospitalized of disease from Sept 1864 through Jan 185 at Ocmulgee Hospital in Macon, GA. Moses Waldron had two brothers who also served in the War: Randall David Waldron and Benjamin Drewry Waldron, along with 3 uncles, who were brothers of his mother Chloe. They were Moses, Benjamin, and James Joseph Howard.
Following the War, Mr. Waldron returned to Ware County to farm. On Feb. 26th 1865, just one month after he was released from the hospital, he married Roxie Ann Waters. She was the daughter of John Barber Waters and Martha Lanier. Moses and Roxie Waldron had 8 children together. As part of the March 13, 2011 CSA ceremony, the UDC's Cross of Military Service was bestowed posthumously upon, Jerry Waldron, great grandson of Moses Westberry Waldron.

Oliver Waldron, ancestor of the name in Wiregrass Georgia and Florida, was born in Georgia in 1787 according to the 1850 Census. Oliver is possibly the son of John Waldron and Hannah Green as noted in the book "The Family of David Mikel Waldron". He was married in 1806 in Bryan County to Ann Sylvester, born 1787 in South Carolina. They had eight known children.
The earliest known residence of Oliver Waldron was Bryan County where he was married and was living during the 1820 census. He and his brother, David Waldron, moved to Ware County (now Pierce) soon after Ware was formed out of Appling County. Oliver Waldron's home was located about two miles northeastward from where Blackshear now is. About 1845 he moved to Columbia County, Florida and afterwards to Marion County, Fla. He died Nov. 5, 1867 at his home at Suwannee Shoals, Florida. His wife survived and made her home with her son, Jesse, spending her last years in Manatee County, Florida.
Mr Waldron served as Justice of the Peace, 584th district of Ware County, 1831-33, and Justice of Ware Inferior Court, 1837-1841. He served in the War of 1812 and the Indian War. He enlisted Jan, 18, 1815, in Bryan County, as a private under Capt. James Bird in Col. Pray's regiment, Georgia militia, and served until March 2, 1815, when he was honorably discharged. He served as a private in Capt. James A. Sweat's company of Ware County militia, June 9th to August 19th, 1838, in the Indian War. His widow was granted a pension for this service in 1873."
