Jesse R. Howell was born in Barnwell District, S,C,, Dec. 26, 1833, son of Jesse Howell (Vol. II). He moved with his parents to Lowndes County (now Echols) when about six years of age, He was married twice. His first wife was Minerva, born 1842, daughter of George and Polly Carter (Vol.1). They had only one son, George P., born 1859, and the first wife died 1867, Mr, Howell then married Sarah Elizabeth, born Dec. 21, 1848, daughter of Shimuel Timmerman (Vol. III), Thirteen children were born by her, These with the first wife's son, were:

Mr. Howell enlisted March, 1862, in Co. "11", 26th Georgia Volunteer Regiment, C.S.A. His first battle was on June 28th afterwards he continued in the servicc until Appomattox where he was paroled April, 1865.
In 1866, he moved to Lake County, Florida, where his first wife died." She was buried in the Leesburg, Fla., cemetery, being the first person to be buried there. She died of malaria. He then returned to &hols County and married in 1869 his second wife. Mr. Howell bought lands and established his home near the present village of Howell, Echols County. Howell station was established when the G.S.&F. Railroad was built through about 1897, and was named for him.
Mr. Howell was a charter member of Alapaha Lodge, No. 209, F. & A.M. at Statenville, in 1857, and served as lodge tiler 1859-60. He later affiliated with Howell Lodge when it was organized. He served as county treasurer of Echols County, 1875-1877.
Mr. Howell was a life-long member of the Methodist Church at the church on his father's old home-place. He died at his home near Howell, May 8, 1899. His second wife died August 1, 1910. They were buried at Wayfare Church.

James Anders Darsey was born in Burke County, Sept. 3, 1820, son of John and Jane English Darsey. He moved with his parents to Decatur County in 1824 and grew to manhood there. As a young, unmarried man he came to Lowndes (now Lanier) County where he married Nancy, youngest daughter of Capt. Jesse Carter (Vol. I) on Jan. 25, 1846. She was born June 26, 1825. To them were born eleven children, viz:

Mr. and Mrs. Darsey acquired the old home-place plantation of her father after her mother's death, and lived there until they died. She died Feb. 27, 1881, and he died Nov. 12, 1892; they were buried in nearby Union Church cemetery. Mrs. Darsey's mother lived with them after their marriage, until her death.
Mr. Darsey was a member of the Masonic fraternity. He received his degrees in St. John the Baptist Lodge No. 184 at old Troupville in 1855. He became a charter member of Alapaha Lodge, No. 209, at Statenville, February 1857. Later in the same ye-ax (in October) he entered into the organization of Butler Lodge, No. 211, at Milltown (now Lakeland), as a charter member. He served as Junior Steward 1875 and Junior Deacon 1878. He was a member at the dissolution of the lodge about 1884.

Elias Tyler was a Confederate Veteran, he was a member of Co G 26th Georgia Infantry Regiment.

Elias Holman Tyler is the Great Great Grandfather of Dorothy Claudette Alderman Waddell.
Elias Holman Tyler was born in September of 1825 in Orangeburg District, South Carolina. Between then and 1860 he moved down to Lowndes County, Georgia. It is in Lowndes that he is found in the 1860 Census making his living as a teacher.
At this point in time, Elias had been married for a little over a year to his wife Obedience Carter (married in Lowndes County, Georgia), and had one son, James Raleigh who was only a few months old. He enlisted in Company G, 26th Georgia Infantry on 20 September 1861 in Lowndes County, Georgia as a musician and was promptly sent to Virginia.
He was medically discharged 2 August 1862. Upon his discharge he was given $55 in back pay, and $1 to travel between Richmond and Savannah. After his discharge he settled in Fort Meade, Polk County, Florida where he remained until his passing on 5 April 1915. He was granted a Florida Pension in his later years.
