CORBITT, DANIEL1809-1889 WARE
Daniel Corbitt, son of John and Penny Corbitt, was born in Barnwell County, South Carolina, February 1, 1808. He came with his parents to Ware County, about 1825-1826, and was married there to Mary (called Pollie) Bennett, born 1815 in Bulloch County, Georgia, daughter of John and Frances Bennett (see Vol. 1). Mr. Corbitt died November 15, 1889, and his wife died in 1887. They were buried at the Lynn Church in Ware County. Their children were:

Mr. Corbitt served as a private in Capt. David J. Miller's company of Ware County militia in the Indian War in 1838.
During 1857, Mr. Corbitt sold out his farm in the 451st district of Ware County and moved to the 1141st district of Clinch County, where he bought lands and farmed for some years. He sold out about 1875 and moved back to Ware County and bought a farm near Providence Church near the Clinch-Ware county line, 440 acres of Lot 275, 8th District, where he lived until his death.

CORBITT, EDMOND.Edmond Corbitt, youngest son of John and Penny Corbitt (Vol. 11), was born in 1830 in Appling County. He was brought in boyhood by his parents to Ware County and grew up and lived in the present Manor district until his death. He married Elenor Carter, born 1835 in Appling County, daughter of Jacob Carter. Four children were born by her, viz:

CORBITT, JamesJAMES CORBITT, son of John Corbitt and grandson of Daniel Corbitt, R. S., was born in Barnwell District, South Carolina, in 1822, and emigrated with his parents to Ware County, Georgia, about 1828, where he grew up, married, and lived most of his life. He was married in 1842 to Miss Elizabeth Carter, daughter of George Carter of Ware County. She was born October 21, 1826, in Georgia, and died August 29, 1889, at Live Oak, Florida, and was buried in Pine Grove Cemetery near Live Oak. The children of James and Elizabeth were:

Shortly after the Civil War, Mr. Corbitt, moved to Florida where he had acquired a farm in Suwannee County. He lived there a few years, then moved back to his farm in Ware County near Manor and lived there until his tragic death April 2, 1874.
Daniel Corbitt, grandfather of Mr. Corbitt, was a Revolutionary soldier in South Carolina and served in the South Carolina Militia. He lived and died in Barnwell District, South Carolina
His son John, after marriage there, moved to Georgia and became one of the early settlers of Ware county.
James Corbitt served in the State Militia in the Civil War.
James Corbitt was buried at Philadelphia Congregational Methodist Church at Manor. William T. James, a neighbor, was appointed administrator of the estate. The appraisement of his estate showed he owned all of lots of land 320, 321 and 326 containing 490 acres each; the east half of Lot 319; the East half of Lot 378; 440 acres of Lot 325, all in the 8th District of Ware County, also 93 head of cattle, and other property.

CORBITT, JOHNJohn Corbitt was born in 1780 in Barnwell District, South Carolina, son of Daniel Corbitt, R. S. He came to Georgia about 1825 and first lived in Appling County but after a few years moved to Ware County and settled in the present Manor district where he lived until his death in 1854. His wife, Penny (maiden name unknown), was born in 1790 in South Carolina. She died 1867 in the home of her son, James Corbitt, in Ware County. To John and Penny Corbitt were born the following known children:
