Mr. Cason during his stay in Ware County, Georgia, served in the Indian War as a private in Capt. James Walker's Company of Ware County militia, June 9th to Aug. 19, 1838. He served in the Civil War in Co. "B", ist Florida Infantry Reserves, 1864-5. He lived in the Prospect Church community of Hamilton County and he and his wife were members of that church. His uncle, Willis Cason (Vol. V) was one of the founders and leaders in the church. In 1856, he sold out his holdings near Prospect Church and moved to a farm which he had bought located in the Benton community of northeast Columbia County, only a few miles from where he had formerly lived. He died there in 1891, and his wife died soon after. They were buried in a family cemetery known as the Cason-Green Harrington burying ground on his old homeplace. Their graves were marked but the stones have disappeared.
Parnell Cason's step-mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Handley-Yarbrough Cason later married Henry Beal, thus making Parnell and his wife to have the same step-mother.
