The news of the death of Mr. Newton Cone Crews was received with sincere regret by his numerous friends in the city and vicinity. He had been in poor health for some time, but was not generally regarded as serious; the end came as a surprise. He passed peacefully away Tuesday morning at his home at Sunnyside.
The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Bostwick church, the sad services being most impressively performed by Rev. Howard Dutill, of this city. A large number of sorrowing friends for miles around attended in order to pay their last tribute of respect.
Mr. Crews was one of the best known residents of this section and was recognized as one of the county's most estimable and popular citizens. In his passing a good man has gone to his reward!
To his family and other relatives the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community is extended. (Times-Herald Obituary dtd Friday, 31 Mar 1911.)
