John Goff of Duplin Co. NC. He was the Son of John and Mary Goff of Edgecomb Co.NC. He was born in 1717 in VA., and died the later part of 1809 in Duplin Co.
He married three times. The first wife and Mother of his children was Civil Elizabeth (Hall or Franck??) They were the parents of five children. John married (2) Eliza Ennis 8th March, 1807 (3)Elizabeth Hennecy, 22 August, 1807. John and Civil Elizabeth had five children.

GOODBREAD, JACOB T.Jacob Tapley Goodbread was born in Camden County, March 28, 1811, son of Phillip and Catherine Goodbread. He was married Oct. 18, 1832, to Jane Dean Brown, born Jan. 19, 1817, in Camden County, died June 11, 1861. She was daughter of Hugh Brown and his wife, Elizabeth Dean, and grand-daughter of William Dean, R.S., of Baldwin County, Ga. To Mr. and Mrs. Goodbread were born twelve children, viz:

After the first wife's death, Mr. Goodbread married Miss Nancy Summerlin in Columbia Co., Fla., in 1862. Three children were born by her, viz., Thomas D., 1863; Mary D., 1866; Summerlin, 1868, all of whom died young.
Mr. Goodbread lived at Jefferston, the ante-bellum county-site of Camden County, following his marriage, until 1843 when he moved to Columbia County, Fla. He settled twelve miles north of Lake City, and lived there until his death. He served as 2nd Lieut., Camden County Chasseurs, a local militia company, 1838-43, and as Sheriff of Camden County, 1841-43. He was one of the County Commissioners of Columbia County, 1847-49.
Through Mr. Goodbread's efforts, Corinth Methodist Church was established near his home-site, and he gave the land for the church and the present large cemetery there. He and his family were members there, and most of them are buried there. His will dated Sept. 1, 1857, with codicil dated April 19, 1863, was probated in Columbia County following his death.

GOODBREAD, JOHN S.1797-1872 CAMDEN
John S. Goodbread was born in Camden County in 1797, a son of Phillip Goodbread and brother of Thomas Goodbread. He was married in 1818 to Charity Crews, born 1796 in Beaufort District S.C., daughter of Micajah Crews who moved to Camden County and died there testate. They had four known children, viz:

2. Carolineb. 1823, m. James R. Dyall.
3. Sowderb. 1832, m. Elizabeth Bethea in Florida. Died In Conf. Army 1861. Med. Doctor.

John S. Goodbread lived in the White Oak district of Camden County. He served as Lt Lieutenant, Camden County militia, 1822,24. He served in the War of 1812 in Lieut. Scott's detachment of Camden County militia, Jan. 15th to March 5, 1815.
In 1845 Mr. Goodbread moved to Columbia County, Fla. In the creation of Suwannee County out of Columbia he was cut into the new county. He lived on the Suwannee River near the present town of Wellborn, and died there in 1872. His wife died there about 1857

GOODEREAD, PHILLIP.1761-1839 CAMDEN
Phillip Goodbread, a Revolutionary Soldier settler of Camden County, was born in Tryon County, N.C., in 1761, a son of Phillip Goodbread, Sr., who was also a Revolutionary soldier. Phillip, the subject, married Catherine Sowder, born about 1765. They had five children, viz:

2. Priscillab. 1789, m. Arthur Moore. Move to Columbia Co., Fla.
3. John Starlingb. 1797, m. Charity Crews, dau. of Micajah.
4. Adam Sowderb. 1807, m. Ist. Elizabeth VanZant; 2nd. Julia Densler.
5. Jacob Tapleyb. 1811, m. Ist. Jane D. Brown; 2nd. Nancy Summerlin.
Phillip Goodbread, Sr., and Jr., served in the Revolutionary War as privates in Capt. Robert Porter's Company "G" of Tryon County militia, and are shown on roll for the period Oct. 21 to Dec. 30, 1777. Thomas, John and Joseph Goodbread, brothers of Phillip, Jr., served also in the same company, and later became residents of Camden County, Ga.
Phillip Goodbread, the subject, moved to present Nassau County, Fla., in 1785, but a year later moved to Camden County, Georgia, where he granted 200 acres of land the same year. Camden County records show he took the oath of allegiance July 13, 1799. He continued to live there until shortly before his death when he and his wife moved to Nassau County, where his son,'Adam S., was living. He died there between June, 1839, and June, 1840. His wife survived and made her home with Adam S. Goodbread, until her death a few years later.
Mr. Goodbread was commissioned ensign in the Camden County militia, July 13, 1798. He made gifts of slaves to his children and several of his grandchildren at various times between 1819 and 1839, as shown by Camden County deed records, as follows: To sons Thomas, Jacob T., Adam S., and John S. and grandchildren viz., Arthur J. Moore, Jacob T. Moore, Sarah Ann and Priscilla and Permelia Moore, and Phillip Goodbread (son of Jacob T.).
