GUEST, WILLIAM.William Guest was born in North Carolina in 1778, a son of John Guest (Vol. II). The family removed to Barnwell District, S. C. in his youth, and it was there that he grew up and married. His wife, Agnes, was born 1790 in Barnwell District. Her maiden name so far is unknown. Their known children were as follows;

Mr. Guest removed to Georgia about 1818, and located in Appling County, being among the first settlers there. He lived in the 3rd land district of Appling when he drew lot 405, 8th district Early County in the 1820 land lottery. He moved to Camden County and granted land there. Some years later he removed to Ware County and settled in the portion cut into Clinch County in 1850.
He lived in the Magnolia district. He dropped dead in his field in June, 1851.

GUY, WILLIAM.1813-1861 BRANTLEY
William Guy was born in this state in 1813, a son of William and Ann Guy. William moved to Ware County soon after his marriage about 1837 to Bathsheba Thomas, born 1815, in Liberty County, daughter of Banner Thomas, Sr., and his wife Mary. Mr. and Mrs. Guy had the following children:

Mr. Guy's home-place was in the eastern part of Ware County in the portion now Brantley County. He lived on a farm where David Hickox in recent years lived, several miles west of Hoboken. He was elected in 1857 to the General Assembly as Representative from Ware County, and introduced the bill which was passed at the 1857 session creating the new county of Pierce. The creation of the new county had put him into it, and he resigned his legislative seat before his term had expired.
William Guy was ensign in the militia of the 584th District, Ware County, 1835-1846, and participated in the Indian War. He served as a private in Capt. James A. Sweat's company of Ware County militia June 9th to Aug. 19, 1838, and Aug. 31st to Dec. 31, 1838.
Mr. Guy died in the spring of 1860. Lazarus Dowling and Mrs. Bathsheba Guy were the administrators of his estate. The estate consisted of lots of land 142, 193, 195, 268, in the 9th district of then Pierce County; the advertisement of sale of this property in 1867, stated the property laid on the Satilla River, and was traversed by the Brunswick & Western Railroad, and 100 acres was in cultivation.
The Guy family was originally from Duplin County, N. C. where Mr. Guy's grandfather, William Guy, died testate in 1820.
