JORDAN, ABRAHAM.1826-1877 Married in January 1844 in Ware County.... Abraham at a very young age , served in the Indian War as 2nd Corporal, under Capt. JAMES A. Sweat of the Ware County Militia in August 10, 1840 to November 18, 1840 ; also under the same company as Private Jourdon (Jordan now used) in November 19, 1840 to June 1st, 1841 and again October 6, 1841 to December 3, 1841.... Private Abraham enlisted along with his sons David and Joseph in Company " H" 26th Georgia Infantry Regiment CSA of Clinch and Ware County Georgia calling them the " Forest Rangers " Company , enlisted for a 6 months term on October 1st, 1861 until March 11, 1862 on which that was the last time his name appeared on the roll. No records of discharge or transfer found. Abraham Jordan owned lots of land 251, 254 and 255 in the 5th land district of Ware County. He bought lots 254 and 255 on May 1, 1847 from James Fullwood , that being the old Christopher Mercer's home place at the time and lot 251 was bought from his brother , Joseph Jordan on December 26, 1851 , ( Ware County deed book ' U ' page 428 ) . Children : David (1844-1896 )walden cemetery married Mary Sears (1854-1910), Delphia (1847- ) unknown where ? , Levicy 'Lu' (1849) it is said that Vicy married Oct. 13, 1867 in Clinch County under the name of Louisa Jordan married Thomas Johnson s/o John which they moved to Fort Pierce, Fla., Rebecca ( 1850-1915) liberty cemt married Shaderich Thornton (1848-1916) he is at jordan cemt., Mary (1854-1917) liberty cemt married Daniel Smith (1850-1930), Martha (1853-1911) married James Peeples (1849-1876) and Thomas J. Minchew ( 1856-1926) at ben james cemt., Rachel (1854-1897) married Mark Hall (1854-1921) at hall cemt., and Susan Olive (1859-1922) married Timothy A. Westberry (1854-1921) at Blackshear City cemt.... Abraham Jordan and Matilda Thomas living in 1850 , 1860 Ware County then 1870 WC , Matilda a widow now, 1880 WC Matilda was living with her daughter Mary Jordan Smith , the next year Matilda died and was buried in Hall cemt.WARE
Abraham Jordan was born in Ware County in 1826, a son of David and Delphia Minchew Jordan, and grandson of Abraham Minchew (q.v.). His wife was Matilda Thomas, born 1828 in Ware County, daughter of Banner Thomas (Vol. III). They had eight children, viz:
1. Davidb. 1844, m. Mary Sears, dau. of Hiram (Vol-ll).
2. Rebeccab. 1847, m. Shadrach Thornton.
3. Delphiab. 1849, died single.
4. Marthab. 1851, m. Thomas J. Minchew. Moved to Baker Co., Fla
5. Maryb. 1851, m. Daniel Smith.
6. Vicyb. 1850, died young.
7. Rachelb. 1854, m. Mark Hall of Coffee Co.
8. Susan Oliveb. 1859, m. Timothy A. Westberry of Wayne Co.
Mr. Jordan owned lots of land 251, 254 and 255 in the 5th land district of Ware County. He bought lots 254 and 255 on May 1, 1847, from James Fullwood (Vol.1), they being the old Christopher Mercer home-place lands at the time. He bought lot 251 from Joseph Jordan on Dec. 26, 1851 (deed book "U" p. 428, Ware County). The home-place was on lot 254. Mr. Jordan owned these lands at his death in 1877, and his son, David bought the property from the other heirs in 1878-80 (see deed book "U", pp. 425-439, Ware County).
