APPLING.
Drewry (commonly called "Drew") Reddish, ancestor of the Appling County family of that name, was born in South Carolina about 1785, a son of Thomas Reddish. He married Jane Carter, born 1792 in Colleton District, South Carolina, daughter of George Carter. To them were born the following known children:
1. Nancyb. 1810, m. William Patterson from North Carolina.
2. Ishamb. 1812, m. Harriet Stafford, daughter of Ezekiel.
3. Georgeb. 1823, m. (1) _____ Touchton (2) Susan Nichols.
4. Davidb. 1824, m. Emaline Morgan, daughter of Thomas.
5. Johnb. 1828, m. Charlotte _____. Lived in Tattnall Co.
6. Paulb. 1830, m. Rebecca _____. Lived in Tattnall Co.
It has been difficult to learn full information relative to this family. It is known, however, that Drew Reddish and his wife came with her parents from South Carolina to Tattnall County about 1808, where his name is found in the jury box for 1810. Later, about 1820-1825, they moved across the Altamaha River into the new county of Appling and lived there until they died.
Census References: 1820, Tattnall; 1830, 1840, Appling.
