EDMONDSON, Isaac
1763-1810
BULLOCH

ISAAC EDMONDSON was born about 1763, said to have been born in England and to have emigrated to Virginia, with his parents. He was a Revolutionary patriot, furnishing supplies to the cause. We have not been able yet to definitely trace the family's movements but it appears that they lived in Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina before locating in Georgia about 1800. They settled in Bulloch county where Isaac Edmondson was living when he died in 1810. He had gone to Savannah for medical treatment and died there. His will was dated May 13, 1809, and was probated in 1810, bequeathed certain of his property to his son James and the remainder to his wife Nancy and the other children unnamed.
Mrs. Edmondson was Nancy Cox before marriage. She was born in 1765 and died August 17, 1842, at her home in present Brooks County, Georgia. The children of Isaac and Nancy Edmondson were:

1. Nancyb. 1790, m. John Mathis (first wife).
2. Susannahb. 1798, m. John Mathis (second wife).
3. Jamesb. 1799, m. Sabra Jeems, or James.
4. Elizabethb. 1801, m. William Holloway, Jr.
5. Sarahb. 1802, m. William Alderman.
6. Johnb. 1806, m. Martha Strickland.
7. Davidb. 1809, m. Dicy Tillman.

Mrs. Edmondson sold out her possessions in Bulloch County and moved to Lowndes County in the winter of 1827-1828, and settled on a farm in what is now Brooks county. This was what later became known as the Tallokas district, and was placed into Brooks county in 1858.
Mrs. Edmondson was a member of the Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, and united with it by letter in May, 1828. The church roll records her name as "Mrs. Ann Edmondson' and shows she died a member August 17, 1842. She was buried at Bethel Church. The grave is unmarked.

For Revolutionary War proofs, see: Mrs. H. L. Abbott, N.S., D.A.R. No. 244889, and Mrs. L. G. Cox, N.S., D.A.R. 209922, et. al.
