Stanley Crews
Stanley Crews was born about 1740 in Virginia (1). He is a son of David and Mary Stanley Crews of Virginia.
John's father, Stanley, was the only one of his siblings to settle into Georgia (Wilkes County). All others appear to settle in Kentucky. David Crews was married Mary Stanley 1706--1766 in Charles City VA (2)
The children of David and Mary are"
Joseph b. abt 1734 VA m. Agnes ?
Jesse 1735 VA d.1812 KY m. Amy Bright
Ruben
David Milton 1739 VA d. 1821 KY
Stanley ** 1740 VA d. 1792 Wilkes Co GA m. Agnes (Martin)
Gideon 1742 VA--1790 KY
The Stanley Crews family removed from Virginia to Wilkes County, Georgia, after the children were born and he and his brother David's service in the Continental Army during the American Revolution (1).
Wilkes County was one of the original counties created from Indian lands in 1773. The legislature designated the county in 1777 and thereafter divided it many times to form other counties (3)
Stanley's name began appearing in Wilkes County records beginning in 1785.
From these county records we are able to determine Stanley and Agnes Crews' children and the children's spouses.
