CREWS, ARCHIBALD G.1819-1905 CHARLTON(GA) BAKER (FL)
Archibald Graham Crews was born in Camden County, Georgia, in February of 1819. His parents, Rodger (Roger) and Elizabeth (Mitchell) Crews, moved from Colleton District, South Carolina, around 1816, with other family members; Alexander, Stephen, Micajah and Joseph Crews. Rodger Crews was a participant in the 1821 Georgia Land Lottery and drew land in Henry County. He is listed on the 1830 Duval County, Florida, census, and as a resident of East Florida on January 3, 1832, Rodger Crews endorsed a memorial for the reappointment of Judge Smith.
At age 18, Archibald, known as Graham, enlisted as a private in Captain Lewis Bailey's First Regiment of Florida Mounted Volunteers. The company was mustered in at Harts Road, Jacksonville, Florida, on July 22, 1837, and was discharged in Jacksonville on January 1, 1838. The muster roll shows that Graham lost his musket and that "the company were effectually mounted on their own horses during the whole period"; travelling 100 miles to the point of rendezvous and 100 miles back home. On December 5, 1892, he received a soldier's pension for his Indian War service. Graham was described in his pension application as having black hair, blue eyes and a fair complexion at the time of his service.
On February 26, 1850, in Nassau County, Florida Graham Crews married Honor Civility Bradley born in January of 1835, to Henry and Honor C. Bradley. The ceremony was performed by Reverend Josiah Lewis and attended by the brother of Honor, John H. Bradley. After marriage, Graham continued his occupation as a farmer and lived in Charlton County, Georgia, near his widowed mother, Elizabeth, and several of his siblings. (Elizabeth (Mitchell) Crews died before 1860.)
Archibald Graham and Honor Crews had the following children, a born in Charlton County:

In 1882, Graham and Honor purchased a farm in Macclenny, Florida, where they lived until his death on July 12, 1905. Honor continued to live in Macclenny with her son, James McDonald Crews, until her death on March 22, 1913. Graham Crews has a marked grave in the Emmaus Cemetery in Charlton County, Georgia. Honor has no marker, but is thought to be buried near Graham.
Honor C. (Bradley) Crews was granted a widow's pension on June 20,1906. Several affidavits in this file were given by family members. A statement was also given by D. L. Rowe, who attended the wedding of Graham and Honor.
The daughter, Honor Civility Crews, had one son, Barney Crews, who was born in November 1895. He lived with his grandparents until Graham's death in 1905; then he and his grandmother lived with the son, James McDonald Crews. Bamey has not been located after the 1910 Baker County, Florida census, and is believed to have died before the age of 21.
