George W. Albritton was born in Laurens County in 1815, a son of Elder Matthew Albritton (Vol. I). He came with his parents to Lowndes County in his boyhood and was married about 1834 to Miss Jane Allen, born Sept. 19, 1818 in this state. She was a daughter of Isaac and Easter Allen (Vol. 11). To Mr. and Mrs. Albritton were born:

Mr. Albritton served as a Ist Lieutenant in the militia in the Florida Indian War in 1835-36, also served in the Lowndes County militia in 1836-37. He went off in the Brooks County militia recruited in the last year of the Civil War, and was captured in the Atlanta campaign. He was confined in Federal prison at Hilton Head, S. C., and died there January, 1865, of disease aggravated by the rigors of prison life.

Mrs. Albritton continued to maintain the home, and reared the minor children to maturity, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harrell, Nov. 9, 1892. She was buried in the town cemetery at Dixie, Brooks County. She and her husband were members of Bethany Primitive Baptist Church. The Albritton family was cut out of Thomas into Brooks County when the latter was made in 1858.

Henry W. Albritton was born in Bryan County in 1806, a son of Thomas and Pollie Albritton (Vol. II). His early years were spent in Bryan and Liberty counties. He removed to Ware County about 1835. His wife Amelia (commonly called "Millie"), was born in 1810 in this state; her maiden name unknown. Their children were:

2. Rhodab. 1832, m. 1st. Joshua Carver; 2nd. Newton Howard.
3. Eady Janeb. 1838, m. Evans Taylor (2nd wife).
4. Allieb. 1841, m. Robert Thrift.
5. Henryb. 1845, m. Mary Summerall, dau. of Elhannon. Moved to Fla.
6. Matthewb. 1849, m. Sarah J. Strickland, dau. of John.

Mr. Albritton's home in Ware was on Lot of land No. 60, 8th district, which he owned together with fifty acres on adjoining lot 50. He owned this at his death in 1879. His estate was administered by his son, Matthew.

Henry W. Albritton was in the Indian War in 1838, serving as a 4th Sergeant in Capt. James Walker's company of Ware county militia. He was 2nd Lieut. of the militia in the 590th district, Ware county, 1837-40, and lst Sergeant under Capt. James Jones in 1840.

Mr. Albritton was baptized into High Bluff Primitive Baptist Church, Feb. 10, 1844, and his wife was similarly received July 11, 1844. They died members of this church. Mr. and Mrs. Albritton were buried in High Bluff Church
cemetery.

Amelia Lee Albritton wife Henry W Albritton buried at High Bluff cemetery in Brantley co, Ga date of death reads 1851 but she was still alive in the 1860 and 1870 census. I wonder if this should be 1871. Info at findagrave.

JONES, JAMES, Jr.1814-1853 BRANTLEY

James Jones, Jr., was born in Camden County, March 26, 1814, a son of James and Nancy Jones (Vol. 1). The family early moved to Wayne (now Brantley) County where the subject grew up to manhood. He was married Dec. 15, 1830, to Sarah, daughter of Jesse Mizell (Vol. I). She was born Jan. 27, 1813, and died Oct. 31, 1849, four days after the birth of her eleventh child. On June 15, 1850, Mr. Jones married Jane Albritton, daughter of Thomas Albritton (Vol. 11). She was born in 1830, and died in 1913. By her three children were born. The fourteen children in their order were as follows:

Soon after marriage, Mr. Jones settled on lands in the 590th District of Ware County (now Brantley) not far from High Bluff Church, where he came to have a large plantation and carried on his operations with slave labor. This was on lot of land 107, 9th district of Ware. On August 26, 1853, he was hacked to death with a hoe in the hands of a negro boy named George, a slave of James Griffin, Sr., a neighbor, the boy having been loaned to Mr. Jones to do some work. His remains were buried in the cemetery at High Bluff Church where his deceased wife had been buried. The murderer was captured and hung.

James Jones, Jr., at the time of his death was Justice of Ware Inferior Court, having been elected to the office in 1850 at a special election. His sons-in-law, James Knox and Matthew R. A. Albritton, were the administrators of his estate.
Mr. Jones was a member of High Bluff Primitive Baptist Church at his death. He was received into the church through baptism Sept. 13, 1846. He was a private in Capt. James Walker's company of Ware County militia in the Indian War, 1828-1840, and was Captain of a company of Ware County militia in August and September, 1840.
