Cornelius English was born about 1770, in this state as thought. His parents, Cornelius and Jane English, moved to Montgomery County about the time of its creation in 1796. The subject was married twice; the first time, in 1805, in Tattnall County, to his cousin, Nancy English, daughter of his uncle, Joseph English. They had four children and after her death he married her sister, Elizabeth English, born Oct. 22, 1795, by whom ten children were born. The fourteen children in their order were:

Mr. English continued to live in Tattnall County until 1827 when he removed to Lowndes County. He became a Justice of Peace in the 659th district the next year and served 1829-1832. He moved to Gadsden County, Fla., about 1845, and located near Quincy, where he owned a plantation and farmed until his death Jan. 15, 1855. His wife, Elizabeth, died a year later, Feb. 12, 1856. They were buried in Gadsden County.

Benjamin Franklin Evans was born July 15, 1865 in Kelly, Bladen County, North Carolina, son of Benjamin James Evans and Sarah Denson
Evans, both of Kelly, North Carolina. Mr. Evans left North Carolina at the age of seventeen, and followed the turpentine trade to Georgia. He met Margaret Lane, daughter of Thomas Lane (Vol.1) and Hannah Thomas Lane of Ware County, Georgia. They were married on January 29, 1885 in Manor, Ware County, Georgia. After their marriage, they lived in the area of Argyle until their deaths. To them the following children were born:

Mr. Evans owned and operated a General Store in the area of Wayhomer. He worked the turpentine trade, and was a farmer during his lifetime. His friends called him "Big Frank", because, in his prime, he stood 6'4" and weighed 250 pounds. His wife was very small in stature. Mr. Evans died in Clinch County on November 18, 1947, and his wife died on May 7, 1952. Both are buried at Antioch Church Cemetery in the Argyle area of Clinch County.

Charles Floyd was born in Northampton County, Va., March 4, 1747, the youngest of the four children of Samuel Floyd and his wife Susan Dixon. His parents died when he was a child and he was placed aboard a ship in Norfolk harbor to serve as a cabin boy. For fourteen years he followed the sea, finally settling in Charleston, S.C., before the Revolution. In 1768 he married Mary Fendin of Green's Island, near Charleston; she was born there April 15, 1747, and died Sept. 18, 1804. To Charles and Mary Floyd was born only one son, Gen. John Floyd (Vol.III), born Oct. 3, 1769, married Isabelle Marie Hazzard of Hilton Head, S.C.
He early in the Revolution allied himself with the "Liberty Boys" whose motto was "Liberty or Death". Several times his home was burned during the war, by the Tories. Finally he was captured by the British and sent to Savannah where he was kept in prison until the end of the war. He then returned to South Carolina and resumed the growing of Indigo. In 1795, he moved to McIntosh County, Georgia, where he acquired lands and settled near Darien. He named his plantation "The Thicket".
Five years later he was granted lands in Camden County and moved there, He named his plantation home there "Bellevue". It was located on Crooked River. He prospered and became a large slave-owner and land-owner. He died at his home, "Bellevue", Sept. 9, 1820, and was buried in the Floyd Family Cemetery near his residence.
