Notes
General:
ALBRITTON, JOHN
1750-1815
Effingham

John Albritton, a Revolutionary soldier, was born about 1750 and, as thought, in Virginia. He grew up in North Carolina and married there about 1774. His wife's name was Abby (or Abegail) but her maiden name has not been learned. They had the following known children:

1. Thomasb. 1776, m. Frances
2. Henry b. 1778, m. Sallie
3. Ann b. 1782, m. Jethro J. Weaver.
4. Sarah b. 1786, m. Capt. David Mizell November 27, 1808.
5. Matthew b. 1788, m. Ann Bulloch daughter of James.
6. Susannahb. 1793, m. William E. Dean July 4, 1816.
7. Jane b. 1795, m. John Dean December 22, 1814.
8. William b. 1797, m. Mariah Blackshear June 1, 1820.
9. Richardb. 1798, m. Elizabeth Perkins December 13, 1825.

It appears that John Albritton lived in South Carolina, then in Georgia during the Revolution. His earliest residence in Georgia, was in Effingham County where he had 126 acres surveyed, for him there September 6, 1784. He lived in that portion of Effingham that was made into Screven county in 1793, and into Bulloch in 1796. He moved with his family and with his son, Matthew and his family, and others of the connection, to Laurens County very soon after its creation, and was a charter member of the Poplar Springs Baptist Church there in 1807. He lived there until his death in 1815.
Laurens County records show that Richard and Henry Albritton, his sons, were appointed administrators on his estate December 4, 1815, and on July 2, 1821, Jethro J. Weaver was appointed administrator de bonis non. The home place seems to have been on Lot 244, 2nd district Laurens County, which the administrator sold at public sale March 7, 1825.
