When Roger was deposed 7 July 1674, he was age 40 years, and 7 June 1677, he was age 48 years.

The first mention I have of his wife, Rebecca, is 5 May 1663.

His will was proved 4 July 1693. Names four children.

1. I give and bequeath to my Eldest son John Delk my Land & my plantation where I now live upon Lawnes Creeke after his mother's decease, and likewise my saddle horse with furniture.
(Note: John Delk died before 4 July 1699 and it's unknown if he was married.)

2. I give unto my Daughter Rebecca one large Silver cup, two Gold rings and a Silver Bodkin.
(Note: Rebecca Delk married George Ezell and she died after 6 May 1734.)

3. I give and bequeath to my two youngest Sons, Roger Delk and Joseph Delk all my Land at Blackwater, being four hundred and ninety acres to be equally divided between them.
(Note: Roger Delk married 1st Miss Gray, daughter of Richard Gray, and Roger died 1761 in Isle of Wight Co., VA. Their children were: Roger (married Elizabeth Moreland), John (married Mary), and Elizabeth (married John Owen) Delk; Roger's second wife's name unknown. Their children were: Elizabeth (married Benjamin Edwards), and Skelton Delk died before 2 Feb 1769)

4. Joesph Delk, mentioned in #3 with Roger. (Joseph Delk married Hannah and he died 1761 in Southampton Co., VA. In his will he only mentions two sons, John Delk, VA and Jacob Delk, NC.)

Note: there's a Joseph Delk Jr mentioned in Southampton documents & it's thought he was also a son of John & Hannah. The terms Sr. & Jr. were used in records to distinguish two people with the same name from one another and doesn't mean they are father & son. They could be cousins or uncle & nephew, etc.

Roger Delk named his wife, Rebecca Delk, to be his whole and sole Executrix.

GUIDE TO BUILDINGS OF SURRY.....SURRY BICENTENNIAL COMMITTEE
..... Immediately to the south of the Pierce-Bland-Bartlett Plantation was a 1,000-acre parcel first patented by Roger Delke. In 1636 Delke was dead, and Nicholas Reynolds, marrying Delke's widow, repatented the acreage. Reynolds, who obviously worked the plantation, died before February 15, 1663 when his step-son, Roger Delke, reclaimed the 1,000-acre plantation in his name. Delke was active in county affairs until his death in 1693 and like his neighbor, Randall Holt, appears to have been one of the wealthier planters of the time to find fault with the established government.
The Virginia Historic Landmarks Commission records a Delke Plantation near Delke's Crossroads, the intersection of Routes 617 and 626, although this site appears too far inland and away from Lawnes Creek to have been the original plantation. The location of the early plantation and house of the Delke's at Lawnes Creek remains uncertain.

HUTTO, ISAAC.
1795-1827
BARNWELL DIST., S. C.

Mrs. Hutto married William Touchston in 1828, and they moved to Lowndes County, Georgia, in 1833 along with the families of Jacob Hughes and William Hughes and others moving at that time. The Barnwell County estate records show that Mrs. Sarah Touchston petitioned the Ordinary of Barnwell District on Jan. 12, 1832, stating that she was the widow of Isaac Hutto, and that her fouryear-old son, Isaac, was entitled to a distributive share of the estate of his grandfather, Henry Hutto, deceased, and she asks that her brother-in-law, William Hutto, be appointed Isaac's guardian. On the same date, she filed a similar petition for her daughter, Ann (who gradually came to be called "Nancy" in later years). William Hutto was appointed guardian for the two children.

Mrs. Sarah Hutto-Touchston had four children by her second husband, William Touchston; they lived first in Lowndes County but later moved to Clinch County where the children were reared and lived. Isaac D. Hutto, named above, came with his mother and stepfather to Georgia and married in Lowndes (now Lanier) County, afterwards moving to Clinch County, where he became a well-known and greatly beloved Primitive Baptist minister.

General Notes: Husband - General George Washington Deloach

General DeLoach was the son of Abraham DeLoach and Elizabeth Rowe. General said his name was General DeLoach and that he had never been called by any other name. He was then asked what his middle name was and he said, "General." He then stated his name was General General DeLoach (from the mouth of his grandson William Riley DeLoach, son of Ebenezer DeLoach).

The publication, "Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia" states that "The Valdosta Times" published that General DeLoach was 87 years old at the time of death, which was 2 March 1884. That would make him born about 1797. This same date comes up on the bottom of the marriage document to the right.

General DeLoach was married three times. He married Rebecca Durrence on 9 May 1825, Mrs. Dorcas Smith on 14 June 1855, and Sarah Bohannon on 30 May 1857. The first two marriages ended with the death of the wives. At the time of his death, it was reported he had twenty four children. Thirteen of these children are reported here. General and Rebecca had the following: Henry DeLoach (b. 1827); Sarah DeLoach Bohannon (b. 1830); Luraney DeLoach Kelly (b. 1832); Nancy DeLoach Daniels & then Carter (b. 1834); Mary Ann DeLoach Hunter (and B. 1836); Abraham DeLoach (b. 1837); Rowan DeLoach (b. 1839); General DeLoach (b. 1841). With his wife Sarah Bohannon, General had the following children: Ebenezer D. DeLoach (b. 1860); Hayne "Haney" DeLoach (b.1862); Fannie DeLoach (b. 1864); Sarah Jane DeLoach (b. 1865); General DeLoach (b. 1867); and Eliza (Elizabeth) DeLoach (b. 1871).

General DeLoach died on his farm near Statenville, Georgia, on 2 March 1884.
