10. John B.b. April 2,1888, m. Bessie -------
Mr. Cason though too young for regular Confederate Army duty, served the last year of the war in the Florida militia which was called out to defend the state when the Federals invaded Florida, and fought in the battle of Olustee. He served in Co. "B". 1st Florida Reserves. In his later years his widow was granted a Confederate soldier's pension by the State. After marriage he made his home over in Columbia County where he had a large farm and lived until his death Feb. 12, 1905. His widow survived him nineteen years and died April 21, 1924. They were buried at Prospect Primitive Baptist Church in eastern Hamilton County. They were members for many years of Prospect Church as were his parents and paternal grandparents, also Willis Cason, a greatuncle.
NOTE: The name "Wherry" is a variation and connotation of the name "Wyriott" and two spellings have been used for about two hundred years in the Cason family; "Wyriott" being used at first, then gradually changed to "Wherry". "Wyriott" seems to have been derived from Wyriott Ormond, a prominent jurist of Pitt and Beaufort Co., N.C. , relationship to the Cason family uncertain.

Willoughby Cason
Willoughby Cason was born about 1789 in Pitt County North Carolina, a son of Hillery and Sarah Cason. His parents brought him to Screven County, Georgia, when they moved there in 1794. Willoughby is listed in the tax digest of Jefferson County from 1810 through 1813 as is his brother Willis. By 1812 he and his brother Willis had moved to and were living in Bryan County. On 23 Oct. 1813 in Effingham County he married Mary Conner, born 1793 in that county, a daughter of Lewis Conner of Effingham. They had at least eleven children
In 1822, Willoughby moved back to Screven County where he remained until 1827 when he and brother Willis sold out and moved to Ware County, GA. In 1840, he and Willis with their families moved to Hamilton County, FL and soon after, in 1841, he and his wife and daughter Susan united with Prospect Primitive Baptist Church. The wife and daughter had their letters of dismission when they joined Prospect, but he did not have his so he received "under watchcare" until he could receive his letter. However, no record appears in the church minutes where his letter of dismission was ever turned in. Later, that same year, he moved back to Georgia and settled in Camden County in that part made 1854 into Charlton County.
The first wife, Mary, died in present Charlton County, July 3, 1847; and on Feb 22, 1849, in Camden County he married Mrs. Elizabeth Yarbrough, widow of William Yarbrough.
A few days after his marriage to Elizabeth (Feb. 27) Willoughby sold to Benjamin Yarborough of Ware County for $25, in the 8th District, Lot #330, 490 acres.
In 1850, Willoughby had another son, this time with second wife Elizabeth. Willis married his cousin Sylvia Jones, daughter of Harley and Louisa Cason Jones in 1870 in Nassau County, FL. His second wife survived him and married Henry Beall in 1857 in Charlton County. Mr. Cason died in his home in present Charlton County, March 4, 1856 and buried in the old Centerville Cemetery; grave unmarked.
