1821-1864 BRANTLEY
Archibald Crews was born 1821 in Camden County, son of Alexander Crews (Vol.II). He married in 1840, Lucretia Purdom, born 1822, daughter of Thomas Purdom (Vol.IV). They had eleven children, viz:

3. Dorindab. 1848, m. Hampton Walker, Feb. 25, 1869.
4. Lucindab. 1850, died before 1860.
5. Isabelleb. 1851, m. David S. Johns, Sept. 9, 1869.
6. Micajahb. 1853, m. Elizabeth Pelham.
7. Margaretb. 1855, m. Charlton L. Courson.
8. Nancyb. 1857, m. (unknown).
9. Samuelb. 1858, m. Mrs. Mary Ann Rowell, widow of James F. Rowell.
10. Lavina b. 1860, m. George W. Johns.
Mr. Crews was a private in the Indian War in the Georgia militia, serving in Capt. James Jones' company of Ware county militia, Aug. 26th to Sept. 15, 1840, and in Capt. H.E.W. Clark's company of Camden County militia, Sept. 24, 1840 to May 29, 1841. He also was a private in the Georgia militia in 1864 during the Civil War, and died in the service. His widow and her father applied July 1,1864, for administration on the estate, and were appointed in August, 1864.
The Crews home and farm was in lower Wayne, now Brantley County, and after Mr. Crews' death the widow and the minor children lived on there, and she died there March 7, 1884. She was buried in the cemetery at New Hope Primitive Baptist Church at Hickox, Brantley County.
Huxford lists 1. Lewis b. 1841, m. (unknown). as a son. Based on the 1860 census, he is Lewis Purdum and likely a relative of Lucrecia

Mrs. A. H. Crews, widow of the late A. H. Crews, died at the home of her nephew, John B. Crews, Oct. 24, and was buried at Elzys Chapel cemetery by the side of her husband. A large number of relatives and friends attended the funeral.
Mr. and Mrs. Crews lived for many years at Worthington and then moved to Raiford. After the death of her husband she made her home with her son, Arthur. She had reached the age of 64 years and was noted for her Christian character.
She leaves a host of friends and many relatives to mourn her death, besides two children, Arthur and Eustis, both residing near Raiford; two sisters at New River, Mrs. S. C. Crews and Mrs. Belle Johns; one brother, Raiford Johns, of Lake Butler.
