"WAYCROSS, Ga., Bryant Crews Sr., 94, last of Ware county's Confederate veterans, who recetly has been living with his daughter Mrs Mary Griffis, near Hoboken, died Saturday and was buried Sunday at High Bluff Cemetery in Brantley county, it is learned here today. He was one of the first Ware county youths to enlist in the Army of the Confederacy, serving through the entire war. He was born in 1844 near High Bluff Church in the Big Creek section in the northeastern part of Ware county, the son of Macajah and Eminiza Crews, pioneers of south Georgia. Macajah Crews drew land in the Cherokee land lottery, in Camden county, January 1, 1838, according to records revealed in the Ware county history compiled by Mrs. J.L. Walker of this city.
Bryan Crews was the grandson of Joseph Crews, a soldier in the Indian wars of 1837-38.
